Jeong-hoo Lee (San Francisco) became the third Korean player in history to hit in 10 consecutive games in his MLB debut season in a Major League Baseball (MLB) home game on the 19th

‘Grandson of the Wind' Lee Jeong-hoo (San Francisco) continued his hitting record for 10 consecutive games. Lee Jeong-hoo started as the number one hitter and center fielder against Arizona in a Major League Baseball (MLB) home game on the 19th and recorded 2 hits and 1 run in 4 at-bats.

Among the 11 Korean batters who entered the MLB stage before Jeong-hoo Lee, only two players recorded hits in 10 consecutive games in their debut season: Jeong-ho Kang (then Pittsburgh) in 2015 and Hyun-soo Kim (then Baltimore) in 2016. If Lee Jeong-hoo hits again on the 20th, he will set a new record for consecutive hits in a Korean hitter's MLB debut season. Regardless of age, the record for the most consecutive hits by a Korean batter in MLB is 16 games, set by Choo Shin-soo (then of Cincinnati) in 2013 and Kim Ha-seong (of San Diego) last year.

Lee Jeong-hoo succeeded in hitting in 10 consecutive games by hitting an infield hit against opposing starting pitcher Line Nelson in his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning that day. He then added an infield hit in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 1 out and runners on second base, recording his 2nd consecutive game and 7th 'multi-hit' (more than 2 hits in a game) record this season. This category is still far from a new record, as Kang had two or more hits in 36 games in 2015. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Lee Jung-hoo reached first base due to an error by the opposing second baseman with no outs on second base, and then hit home with the help of the batting line.

Jeong-hoo Lee also played defense that day, chasing and catching opposing leadoff hitter Jake McCarthy's batted ball to left-center in the top of the sixth inning, receiving applause from team starter Logan Webb. Webb pitched 7 scoreless innings and was named the winning pitcher as the team won 5-0. On this day, MLB.com also posted on social media images of Korean fans cheering in the stands behind the catcher wearing uniforms with Lee Jung-hoo's name on them. 고스톱
